David Haas, Ph.D., is the Founding Artistic Director of Vocal Artists of Iowa and Music Teacher at West High School in Iowa City.

At West High, Dr. Haas directs the Treble Choir and West Singers, and teaches several sections of Digital Music Production.

Before his time in Iowa City, Haas held church choir and public school teaching positions in Iowa, South Dakota, and Florida. Haas holds a BA in Vocal Performance from Luther College, an MM in Choral Conducting from Florida State University, and a PhD in Music Education from the University of Iowa. David resides in North Liberty, Iowa, with his loving wife Sarah, daughter Cadence, and son Dawson. In addition to conducting and performing, David’s research interests center around audience engagement, incorporation of music production coursework into high school curricula, and fusions of traditional ensembles with digital media.
