Digital Music Production is a new course that is being piloted at West High School in the 2022-23 school year. Students from all grade levels are encouraged to enroll regardless of their background in formal music training.
Students are taught how to utilize Logic Pro X, a professional-grade digital audio workstation, to remix prexisting pieces of music as well as create their own projects from scratch. Additionally, students are taught to listen for and identify many of the modern recording techniques used by today’s most popular recording artists. The iMac computers utilized in this class were provided by a “Big Idea Grant” with funding from the Iowa City Community School District Foundation.
