Virtuosa

An auditioned, select treble choir (grades 10-12): the course emphasizes the enjoyment of singing, exposure to the many styles of choral music, and development of the interpersonal and musical skills necessary for excellent choral performance, including sight-singing and vocal independence. Virtuosa focuses on diverse repertoire written by women and champions performance by such composers.

Virtuosa collaborates with Concert Choir and West Singers on the annual “Winter With West” Concert, performs at each West High vocal music concert, and participates in many school and community functions. The ensemble also presents regional tours with West Singers every spring time.

Students in this ensemble participate in other musical offerings within the department, including show choir, honor choirs, youth choruses, Solo & Ensemble Festival, and extra-curricular vocal ensembles.
